What's this all about...

What's this all about...

I'm Tony — a cybersecurity engineer by day, chronic tinkerer by night, and a liberal atheist living in rural Virginia who's made peace with being politically and spiritually outnumbered at every gas station in Goochland County. Out here, that's basically a two-for-one combo of things people would like to pray for me about, which I genuinely appreciate even if we're going to disagree on the mechanism. I work at the intersection of enterprise security, AI systems, and whatever rabbit hole I fell into last Tuesday. I've watched the internet go from a wild experiment to critical infrastructure to something that actively roots against me, and I still love my job. That's probably a personality flaw, mental illness?

I live out here in the Appalachian foothills with my life partner Toni — different spelling, same chaos energy — and our four dogs, who are, objectively, better company than most people. The house smells like coffee and fresh baked bread most mornings, and on the right kind of evening, there's a warm smell of colitas rising up through the air — if you know, you know.

When I'm not cosplaying as a ninja locked in mortal combat with nation-state hackers — which is a much cooler way of saying I'm a cybersecurity engineer for an insurance company — I'm playing bass or keyboards, chasing the kind of sound that lives between Minor Threat, Afro-Cuban jazz and Wu-Tang, which is a weirder neighborhood than you'd think but I like the rent. I'm also grinding away on Chronoharmony, a sci-fi time travel novel about going back to fix the music industry, which is either going to be something genuinely interesting or proof that I have unresolved feelings about the music industry. Jury's still out.

This blog is where all of it lands — tech, AI, music, fiction, politics (I'm a non-practicing anarchist, which mostly means I have strong opinions and a day job), dog pictures, the best damn Manhattan cocktail recipe this side of New York City, and whatever project is currently consuming my evenings. It's not a niche blog. That ship sailed a long time ago.

If you're looking for polished content marketing, you are in the wrong place and I genuinely wish you well. But if you want somebody who's been living inside technology for decades and still finds it strange and fascinating... pull up a chair.
